about

"Transexpose" was originally recorded as a "frequent mutilation" for CKMS (100.3 FM) and broadcast on June 29th, 1998. These weekly "mutes" were sixty-minute sound sculptures by a revolving roster of station personnel, and I hadn't recorded anything for them until this.

This was the first of nine mutes that I recorded between 1998 and 2002. It is two 30-minute "sides" exploring the facets of cross-dressing in my little Waterloo world. I combined unreleased GREENman songs, new recordings, and a whole bunch of movie dialog to make a real downer of an album. I thought the result was amazing, but it was so full of copyright violations that I could never sell it.

For this "revisitation" I removed approximately 16 minutes of the original broadcast. When cutting out vast stretches of third-party dialog I had to twist, fold, and mutilate the tracks so they would remain interesting without them.

The bonus tracks on this release are the last things I recorded on cassette 4-track:

"Bernadesto Revisited" - This was my March 2000 follow-up "frequent mutilation" to "Transexpose," dedicated to my pet rat Bernadette D. Normandy. I have compressed it greatly from the original 60-minute runtime.

"M20 Appendix" - The last cassette master I ever made was this remixed extension of an old 1993 Philler sketch, and it is a texbook lesson in both feedback and annoyance. It was never finished or released, and after this I'd start recording in Protools. The other parts of the appendix are two CKMS dialogs recorded live off the air.
