about

Don't cry again, it's "The True Story of Muffy St. Jacques," a collection of reworkings, remixings, and rethinkings. This is, for the first time, the TRUE story of Muffy St. Jacques; unabridged and unedited. With the help of Mr. Bones, we hope that 1998 will last even LONGER than '97, and that the parade will once again be of high quality.

This cassette has an information booklet twin.

After 6.5 albums and 5 years it was time to do some remixing. Thanks to Jon's loan of a second 4-track, I was able to create new versions of some old songs, some of which had languished in the archives for years (but you can hear those previously-unreleased projects in previous installments of these revisitations). I worked on it within my boiling hot attic bedroom: these songs will always make me think of the smell of hot dust.

It was one of the first tapes I re-released on CD (in 2000). "www.bandd.com" was later released for the first time on the "Snakes on Ice" GREENman compilation, while "Bindu" and "Nightrider" appear here for the first time.

released February 1, 1998

These tracks were originally mixed by Adam Thornton in the Abbxcess Bedroom during 1997, facilitated by equipment donations from Jon Litchfield (distortion pedals, extra 4-track, cables, and flaky Moog). Some of the tracks contain sources recorded in Studio B (CKMS, 93-94), the Blackhead/Whitehead Bedroom (93-95) and The Grey Yonder (95-96). All tracks (c) 2020 Dangermuff Enterproses.

For this revisitation, everything has been cleaned and remixed from the original 4-track cassettes with the intention of making it sound exactly like the original tape...but better!

All songs written, performed, and mixed by Adam Thornton except 3 & 7 (guitar by Detlef Burghardt), 5 (tabla by Detlef Burghardt), and 8 (voice by Jacqueline Laronde, poem written by the members of ENGLSOC).

Special-Special thanks and "In Memory's" to all at CKMS (especially Eli, Lisa, Terry, and Eva), Jim DeJong (at DDT), Neb, Jared, Sean & Dave (for early equipment), Jon, Detlef, all that Gen-X, all at Snot Rohmit (esp. Philip and Nick), cool people at Club Abstract, and anyone who has ever helped, critiqued, listened, or inspired (Bronwyn, Angela, Raven, Dennis, Scott, Nounoc, Clint, Sarah-Jane, Heather M).

Dedicated to Carl Kimmel, a really brave guy.
